Sarastro Lodge was consecrated on the 15th May 1969 by the members of the Sarastro Masonic Club that had existed here in Vienna since 1961.
The Lodge is unique in that whilst being formed under the Austrian Constitution it was given the right to practice both English and American rituals, there being so many English speaking expatriates in the city in those days.
That said Sarastro is far from being alienated from their Austrian Brethren and often visits and receives guests from other native German speaking Lodges.
Visiting Brethren
Sarastro meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month. The Worshipful Master, Officers and Brethren would be more than happy to offer their hospitality to Brethren visiting from within Austria or abroad. (Please check first that your national Grand Lodge recognises and is recognised by the Grand Lodge of Austria).
